Presidents interact with the Press in a variety of ways. Among the main forms of interaction are news conferences, in which reporters ask questions on the record and the President answers them. This category, tallied separately in the table below from “Solo-Reg,” also includes Prime-Time conferences that were televised live.
In a Joint conference, the President is joined by one or more non-U.S. speakers (for example, foreign heads of government).
