As the namesake of this update suggests, most of its contents revolve around the trials: structures to traverse through that feature traps and intense battles, but also loot for every player. Basically, they’re beefed up strongholds with spawners – but each one is procedurally generated, meaning players will experience a different adventure every time. In addition to the aforementioned trials, this update brings new items, mobs, decorative blocks, weapons, banner patterns, and pottery sherds.
The highlight of this update is the Trial Chambers, a sprawling structure bursting with traps and treasure for each and every player to find. They’re accessed by purchasing an explorer map from Cartographer villagers, and once the players enter one, it will be their own personal dungeon with unique rewards.
Once the player defeats all of the mobs spawned by a trial spawner, it will eject some reward, with a 50% chance to drop a Trial Key. These keys unlock vaults within the Trial Chamber that contain even more loot for the brave players who make it through the trials.
This update also introduces the breeze, a new hostile mob that spawns in the Trial Chambers. It uses wind-based projectile attacks that can send entities flying if they hit them. The breeze drops a breeze rod that can be used to craft wind-harnessing weapons.
Outside of the Trial Chambers, this update brings two new building variants for tuff – brick and chiseled tuff. It also introduces the long-awaited crafter, a machine that makes crafting automatic. It comes with various slots to fill and toggles to switch between.
